Contax/Yashica Lenses — Real Carl Zeiss for Mirrorless
The C/Y mount (1975) paired Contax bodies with genuine Carl Zeiss T* optics made in Germany and Japan — the Planar 50mm f/1.4, Sonnar 135mm f/2.8, Distagon wides — the reference rendering of the film era: micro-contrast, 3D pop, and the famous Zeiss colour.
Yashica's own ML line shares the mount and much of the character at a fraction of the price. Its flange distance is long enough to adapt to every mirrorless system — Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds — with a simple, glassless adapter that preserves full optical quality.

Can I use Contax/Yashica lenses on a mirrorless camera?
Yes — Contax/Yashica adapts to Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds with an inexpensive mechanical adapter. Focus and aperture stay fully manual, exactly as the lens was designed.
Are C/Y Zeiss lenses 'real' Zeiss?
Yes — designed by Carl Zeiss with T* coatings, built in Oberkochen (AEG) or by Kyocera in Japan (MMJ) to the same optical spec. Both versions deliver the authentic Zeiss look.
Is Yashica ML glass worth it?
Very — the ML 50mm f/1.4 and ML 28mm f/2.8 are repeat sleeper picks, sharing the mount and much of the rendering philosophy for far less money.
