Lens in collector's condition. This lens is over 50 years old, but in this shape it only surfaces once in a long while. The glass is perfect — no scratches. Focus and aperture glide as smoothly as on a new lens. Internal components are snug and tight, with no internal lens rattle. The exterior body is in like-new condition — no scratches, no scuffs, no paint loss.
How this lens renders
The Pentax Takumar 7 Elements 50mm f/1.4 is renowned for its strong bokeh, which excels in blurring backgrounds smoothly at close focus without introducing swirl or bubble effects. Compared with a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens also stands out for its sharpness, enhanced by a radioactive rear element in later versions. The Super-Multi-Coated versions provide improved contrast and considerably reduce flare, a common issue in earlier, less-coated iterations. Shooters appreciate the combination of high contrast and sharpness, although the propensity for flare remains a notable limitation in non-SMC versions.
