Inspector’s condition notes

Lens is in like-new condition and fully functional. Lightly used, may have some minor signs of use. The Optical is perfect with no scratches. Focus and aperture ring operate smoothly as on a new lens. Internal components are solid with no loose internal element movement. The exterior body is in like-new condition, but there are 2–3 small spots of paint loss or scratches around the lens barrel edges or on the focus ring and aperture ring areas (you have to look closely to notice).

How this lens renders

Compared to the 35mm lens of the same spec, what makes this Flektogon stand out is its minimum focus distance of 0.2m, which isn't easy to find in wide angle lenses of the same era. At f/2.4-f/2.8 wide open, the center is slightly soft when shooting at distance. Stop down to f/4 and the sharpness improves noticeably. Impressively, at the 0.2m close focus, it's sharp from wide open. The bokeh melts the background beautifully. The depth of field is shallower than expected wide open, giving pleasing dimensionality without being aggressive. Color rendition is impressively vivid (with a faint green cast in the extreme corners on the Sony A7rII). This is the multicoated version — flare resistance is excellent even when shooting straight into the sun. It can produce vignetting to direct the eye at wide open (around 2.2 EV), which fades when stopped down to f/4 and f/8. A cult classic vintage lens that's both genuinely usable and well worth collecting.
