Inspector’s condition notes

This lens is in excellent cosmetic condition overall, with only light handling wear visible. There is minor edge wear on the mount and a bit of dust/grime in the rubber grip texture, but no dents or major damage. The markings remain clear and the exterior looks well preserved.

How this lens renders

Compared to other 50mm lenses of the same spec from the same era, this Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 is famous for its sharpness and punchy contrast. It's considered the sharpest in Konica's 50mm/57mm lineup. Wide open at f/1.7, the center is already quite sharp; stop down to f/2.8 and the sharpness takes a clear step up, holding steady across the full frame from f/8 on. The bokeh separates the background decisively, melting it away beautifully at typical shooting distances. Colors come out with that signature Hexanon high-contrast look — rich and dimensional. The standout feature is the 6-blade aperture: stop down and background light sources turn into hexagons (if you love that aesthetic, you get full vintage lens vibes; want round bokeh? Just shoot wide open). This is one of the brand's best-value vintage lenses for sheer sharpness — perfect for anyone wanting a crisp, clean file for serious work, and absolutely worth adding to a collection.
