How we gradeInspector’s condition notes
Overall, the lens body is in excellent used condition with only light cosmetic wear. I can see minor surface scratches and small scuffs on the barrel and ring edges, but no dents or heavy finish loss. The markings remain clear and the exterior looks clean and well cared for.
How this lens renders
The Mamiya/Sekor 55mm f/1.8 is renowned for its extraordinary sharpness, setting it apart from typical fast fifties of its era. Even wide open at f/1.8, it achieves high levels of detail and crisp edges, with missionally outstanding contrast and micro-contrast. Its warm-leaning color palette offers smooth transitions, contributing to its vintage character. Creamy bokeh at wide apertures further enhances its appeal for portraiture. However, one potential drawback is the occasionally stiff focus ring, which may detract from the otherwise smooth manual focus experience. Overall, a lens not defined by a single signature trait, but by a blend of sharpness and color balance.
