Inspector’s condition notes

This lens is in excellent optical and mechanical condition, with pristine glass and smooth, precise focusing and aperture operations. Cosmetically, it presents very well, with intact paint and crisp engravings. There are minor handling marks and a few tiny scuffs on the barrel and near the front rim, only noticeable upon close inspection. No dents, brassing, or significant cosmetic damage are present.

The Minolta MD 28mm f/2.8 is prized for its excellent value and sharpness, offering a compelling choice for those seeking quality vintage glass. Unlike many peers in its class, it delivers superb center sharpness right from wide open, with corners improving notably by f/5.6-8. Its color rendition stays neutral to slightly warm, enhancing natural tones without oversaturating. While its multi-coated optics manage flare reasonably well, users should still watch out for warm-toned veiling flare in direct backlight. A key limitation is the lack of modern conveniences like autofocus and electronic aperture control, demanding a more hands-on shooting experience.
