Inspector’s condition notes

Lens is in good condition and fully functional. There are scratches from normal use around the lens body. The optics are perfect with no scratches. Focus and aperture operate smoothly like a new lens. Internal components are tight with no loose elements moving around. Overall exterior shows use — scratches and paint loss are present on the body. The focus scale numbers are not clearly visible; some paint has faded or worn off. The filter thread area has heavy marks, but a filter can still be mounted (filter included).

How this lens renders

The Pentax Takumar 7 Elements 50mm f/1.4 is renowned for its strong bokeh, which excels in blurring backgrounds smoothly at close focus without introducing swirl or bubble effects. Compared with a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens also stands out for its sharpness, enhanced by a radioactive rear element in later versions. The Super-Multi-Coated versions provide improved contrast and considerably reduce flare, a common issue in earlier, less-coated iterations. Shooters appreciate the combination of high contrast and sharpness, although the propensity for flare remains a notable limitation in non-SMC versions.
