How we gradeInspector’s condition notes
The lens has been heavily used. The rear glass element has a mark that does not affect image quality. The focus and aperture operate smoothly, like a new lens. Internal components are tight, with no play or internal movement sounds. The exterior body condition is near-mint, but there are some paint chips or 2-3 scratches around the lens barrel edge, focus ring, or aperture ring (you have to look closely to see them).
How this lens renders
The Pentax Takumar 7 Elements 50mm f/1.4 is renowned for its strong bokeh, which excels in blurring backgrounds smoothly at close focus without introducing swirl or bubble effects. Compared with a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens also stands out for its sharpness, enhanced by a radioactive rear element in later versions. The Super-Multi-Coated versions provide improved contrast and considerably reduce flare, a common issue in earlier, less-coated iterations. Shooters appreciate the combination of high contrast and sharpness, although the propensity for flare remains a notable limitation in non-SMC versions.
