Lens in like-new condition — another bokeh master well-known among manual focus enthusiasts. At f/1.2, the bokeh and background separation are gorgeous. At higher apertures, it gets sharper and sharper. At f/8, once you've learned to use it and gotten familiar with it, you probably won't need to look for another lens. The optical elements are perfect, free of scratches. Focus and aperture turn as smoothly as a new lens. Internal components are tight and solid, with no internal movement or rattle. The exterior body is in like-new condition, but there are 2–3 small paint chips or scratches along the edges of the lens barrel or around the focus ring and aperture ring (you have to look closely to notice them).

How this lens renders

Compared to the same-spec lens 55mm, this Porst Color Reflex MC Auto f/1.2 stands out for its more aggressive background separation. With the aperture at f/1.2, the depth of field is razor-thin, producing bokeh with real character that clearly differs from modern lenses. Wide open at f/1.2, it still renders sharp, with a signature glow that's part of its charm. The low contrast has a filmic feel, leaving plenty of flexibility for color grading in post. Stop down to f/2 and sharpness jumps up noticeably, with even tighter detail rendering at f/2.8. Color rendition delivers natural, beautiful skin tones — ideal for portrait work. The lens handles flare well and is great for creative backlit shooting to set a mood; if you'd rather avoid flare, attaching a lens hood when shooting into the light is recommended. Chromatic aberration and purple fringing show up wide open in high-contrast scenes, but a slight stop down takes care of them. A fast prime lens at the f/1.2 level — not easy to come by. Perfect for those chasing that uniquely soft, character-driven look. A worthy piece for any collection.
