Inspector’s condition notes

Lens is in like-new condition. The optical glass is perfect with no scratches. Focus and aperture operate as smoothly as on a brand-new lens. Internal components are tight, with no rattling or internal movement. The exterior body looks like new, though there are 2–3 small spots of paint loss or fine scratches along the edges of the lens barrel, near the focus ring, and around the aperture ring (you have to look closely to notice them).

How this lens renders

Compared to other wide angle lenses 24mm with the same specs from the same era, this Canon FD 24mm f/2.8 stands out for its solid yet lightweight build quality. It feels great in the hand and works comfortably on a mirrorless camera via an adapter. As for sharpness, it delivers well right from wide open at f/2.8, capturing detail crisply. When you stop down to f/5.6–f/8, the contrast and sharpness across the frame tighten up nicely, making it well-suited for landscapes and architecture. It comes with S.S.C. coating that controls flare effectively when shooting into the light, but if you want zero flare at all, I'd recommend adding a lens hood. With a focal length of 24mm f/2.8, background separation is naturally limited as expected from a wide angle spec. That said, the bokeh is softer and more pleasing than you'd think, doing a respectable job of separating the subject from the background (the aperture ring has click stops that feel quite firm and positive). It's a vintage wide angle lens that offers great value, is genuinely usable, and is ideal for anyone looking for a quality wide at an accessible price.
