How we gradeInspector’s condition notes
Good condition Tamron BBAR lens — another well-regarded wide lens among manual focus lenses. Very well-suited for landscape photography, as it has an extremely short focus throw: turning about 1/3 of the focus ring covers the entire focus range, from 25cm all the way to 3 meters before infinity. In simple terms, just a small twist and you're at your focus distance. The lens condition is considered good. The lens body is made of strong, durable material, and the focus ring is finished in toad-skin texture. Although the exterior shows a fair amount of use, there are no deep scratch marks. The previous owner must have used it frequently but maintained it very well. Near the aperture markings there is a sticker with a slightly curled-up edge, but this does not affect the lens mechanism or image quality. The glass is free of scratches, fungus, and haze on both the front and rear elements. The aperture ring and focus ring turn smoothly. The lens mount is Adaptall 2, but a Minolta MD mount adapter is included (somewhat difficult to install — please don't remove it unless necessary). The optical elements are perfect, with no scratches. Focus and aperture operate as smoothly as a new lens. Internal components are tight, with no internal lens movement sounds. The exterior of the lens shows use, with easily noticeable scratches and paint loss around the lens body.
How this lens renders
The 24mm f/2.5 belongs to the wide angle manual focus lens category—well-suited for landscape, street, and architectural work on modern mirrorless bodies via an adapter. A clear highlight is Tamron's BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating, which is designed to cut down on internal reflections across the lens elements, giving you noticeably better control of flare and ghosting when shooting into the light. If you want that punchy contrast, I'd suggest fitting the lens hood whenever you're pointed at a direct light source. The 24mm focal length delivers a wide field of view that really lets you soak in the atmosphere—wonderful for travel and location shooting. The lens is fully manual, with the focus system operated by hand from end to end, which appeals to shooters who enjoy a slower, more deliberate pace. Overall, it's a wide angle with an interesting spec sheet—well worth considering for manual focus enthusiasts looking to add something a bit different to their kit. A genuinely usable lens that also earns its place as a collectible.
