Inspector’s condition notes

Lens in good condition. Optical is perfect, no scratch. Focus and aperture glide smoothly like a new lens. Internal parts are complete, may have some dust as-is. The exterior body is like new, but there are 2-3 spots of paint loss or scratch around the lens barrel edges, focus ring, and aperture ring (you have to look closely to see them).

How this lens renders

Compared to the 35mm lens of the same spec, this Distagon T* is the optical formula Zeiss designed for Rollei to produce. Its standout feature is the contrast, considered one of the best at the 35mm focal length. Even wide open at f/2.8, it delivers usable sharpness comparable to other good lenses. When you stop down to f/5.6–f/8, the sharpness tightens up further across the entire frame. Bokeh is another aspect many consider top-tier for this focal length. Backgrounds melt away smoothly, with pleasing tonal transitions, delivering the rare dimensionality of an authentic Zeiss lens. The image corners are clean, with reports indicating no noticeable vignetting even wide open. Ideal for those looking for a 35mm vintage lens for both landscape and street photography — it captures the atmosphere completely. The HFT coating handles backlight well, making it a lens that's both genuinely practical to use and worthy of collecting.
