Inspector’s condition notes

This lens is in excellent cosmetic condition overall, with only light handling wear visible on the exterior. There are a few fine surface scuffs, slight edge wear on the mount, and some dust/grime in the textured grip. The markings remain clear and there are no dents or major paint losses visible.

How this lens renders

The Minolta Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 stands out among its peers for its compelling value and notable bokeh. Shooters appreciate its generally smooth and unobtrusive out-of-focus areas, with the 6-7 blade aperture providing reasonably circular shapes when stopped down. Compared to a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens offers characteristically warm colors with an amber bias that flatters skin tones, although blues lean toward cyan. It delivers excellent center sharpness even wide open, peaking between f/5.6 and f/8. However, a known limitation is its moderate to pronounced vignetting at wider apertures, though this diminishes significantly when stopped down.
