The lens is in good condition. The Optical elements are pristine and free of scratch. Focus and aperture glide smoothly like a new lens. Internal components are solid, with no internal lens rattle. The exterior shows normal signs of use, with easily visible scratch and paint loss throughout the lens body.
How this lens renders
The Minolta Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 stands out among its peers for its compelling value and notable bokeh. Shooters appreciate its generally smooth and unobtrusive out-of-focus areas, with the 6-7 blade aperture providing reasonably circular shapes when stopped down. Compared to a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens offers characteristically warm colors with an amber bias that flatters skin tones, although blues lean toward cyan. It delivers excellent center sharpness even wide open, peaking between f/5.6 and f/8. However, a known limitation is its moderate to pronounced vignetting at wider apertures, though this diminishes significantly when stopped down.
