Lens in like-new condition. Optics are flawless with no scratches. Focus and aperture are smooth as on a new lens. Internal components are tight — no play or rattle from the internal elements. The exterior body looks like new, but there are 2–3 small spots of paint loss or fine scratches along the edges of the lens barrel or on the focus ring and aperture ring (you have to look closely to see them).

How this lens renders

Compared to the 50mm lens of the same spec, the standout of this Revuenon f/1.4 MC is its dual personality in a single body. At wide open f/1.4, it delivers softness with a dreamy glow from spherical aberration and a low, filmic contrast—great for soft, emotive work and flexible when grading color. Stop down to f/2.8 and the sharpness comes in fully, climbing right to the edges of the frame by f/8. The bokeh melts the background smoothly and pleasingly to the eye—it's a point the community rates highly (9.1 on Pentax Forums). Colors lean toward a calm, slightly cool tone and are easy to build upon. The MC version features multi-layer coating that helps handle backlight and control contrast better. If you'd like to avoid flare, using a lens hood is recommended when shooting into the light. Build quality is solid (9.4) for a very reasonable price. Anyone looking for a vintage lens 50mm that can play both the dreamy, soft style and the sharp style in a single body—this is a practical, worthwhile option.
