Lens in good condition. Optics are perfect with no scratches. Focus and aperture are smooth like a new lens. Internal components are solid, with no internal lens rattle. The exterior body shows signs of use, with easily visible scratches and paint loss throughout the lens body.
How this lens renders
Compared to the 35mm with the same specs, this Nikkor 35mm f/2 stands out for its 35mm focal length, which is one of the most practically useful ranges around. It's wide enough for street and landscape work, yet still keeps nice proportions when shooting half-body portraits. The f/2 aperture gathers plenty of light, so low-light shooting is comfortable. Even wide open, it can still melt the background at close distances. With the 35mm focal length, the background won't blur as much as it would with lenses in the 50mm range and beyond — that's just the nature of this focal length. Stop down to the mid-range and the center-frame sharpness firms up, in classic style for a lens of that era. This is a vintage lens with an all-metal body. It feels solid and weighty in the hand, and pairs nicely with mirrorless cameras via an adapter. The focus ring has a just-right throw for precise focusing.
