Inspector’s condition notes

The lens is in like-new condition. This brand is trusted for its sharpness, and the color rendition is beautiful. Plus, this one has a very wide aperture, making it easy to get smooth background separation. The glass is pristine with no scratches. Focus and aperture turn smoothly, just like a new lens. The internal components are solid — no rattling or movement inside. The exterior body is in like-new condition, but there are 2–3 small spots of paint loss or fine scratches around the lens barrel edges, focus ring, and aperture ring (you have to look closely to notice them).

How this lens renders

Compared to the 28mm f/2 with the same specs, this Kiron really stands out for its center sharpness — it delivers in full. At f/2 wide open, the center is sharp enough to use right away, while the edges are a touch softer, giving a gentle, creamy feel. Stop down to f/2.8 and the edges start picking up detail nicely; at f/8 it's sharp across the entire frame — well suited for landscape work. Contrast sits in the mid range, giving a soft, film-like tone with colors that lean slightly warm and a touch muted, looking natural and leaving plenty of room to edit further. The bokeh melts the background smoothly, and the swirly bokeh is a distinctive character you simply won't find in modern lenses. This lens also produces lovely flare and sunstars when shooting into the backlight — a nice creative touch to play with (if you'd rather avoid flare, I'd suggest using a lens hood when shooting backlit). It can also add subtle vignetting for a vintage mood, which fades as you stop down the aperture. Ideal for street and landscape shooters who love a genuine manual focus look — well worth collecting.
