Inspector’s condition notes

Lens in like-new condition. Optical elements are pristine, with no scratches. Focus and aperture glide smoothly like a new lens. Internal components are tight and solid, with no internal rattle or movement. The exterior body looks like new, but there are 2-3 small spots of paint loss or scratches along the edges of the lens barrel or on the focus ring and aperture ring (you have to look closely to notice them).

How this lens renders

Compared to the 35mm of the same spec, the Nikon 35mm f/1.4 is one of the vintage wide angle lenses that opens up to f/1.4. Nikon kept it as their go-to fast wide angle prime for many decades, from the F era all the way through AI and AI-s. At f/1.4 wide open, it handles low-light shooting comfortably, and with an aperture this wide, you can easily throw the background out of focus at 35mm. Subject and background separation is clean. Stop down to the f/11–f/16 range, and it captures detail across the whole frame beautifully — well suited for landscape work. Another point a lot of people love — when you stop down to f/16, the lens produces sharp, neatly defined sunstars. Great for playing with light sources or the sun. If you're shooting backlit and want to avoid flare, I'd suggest putting on a lens hood. Overall, it's a fast wide angle lens that truly performs across many situations, and with such a long production history spanning three eras, it's a worthy piece to add to a collection.
