How we gradeInspector’s condition notes
Lens in like-new condition. Optical elements are perfect, with no scratches. Focus and aperture ring run smoothly, just like a new lens. Internal components are tight and solid, with no internal lens movement sounds. The exterior body condition is like new, but there are small areas of paint loss or 2-3 scratches on the lens barrel edges or on the focus ring and aperture ring (you have to look closely to see them).
How this lens renders
Compared to the 24mm lens with similar specs, this Soligor 24mm f/2.5 Wide-Auto MC stands out for its solid 80s-style build quality—you can really feel the all-metal construction the moment you pick it up. Sharpness-wise, wide open at f/2.5 it's moderately sharp. Center focus is genuinely usable. Stop down to f/2.8, and by the mid-range around f/8, the lens really hits its sweet spot with full detail resolution—especially on an APS-C body, which crops out the softer edges. On full-frame, you'll notice more softness creeping into the corners. The bokeh delivers moderate background separation, smooth in the wide-angle tradition. It doesn't try to produce flashy bokeh balls, but rather a natural sense of depth. One thing to keep in mind: this lens is flare-prone when shooting into the light. I'd recommend keeping the lens hood on at all times to keep contrast in check—or you can lean into the flare as a creative effect, whichever you prefer. Great fit for anyone looking for a solidly-built wide-angle vintage lens to use on mirrorless. It's a practical option at an accessible price point.
