How we gradeHow this lens renders
Compared to other 28mm f/2.8 lenses with the same specs, this one stands out for its value and well-balanced image rendering. It's perfect for wide angle shooters using it on mirrorless cameras. Regarding sharpness, at wide open f/2.8, it delivers a soft, gentle look typical of vintage lenses. Stop down to f/4 and the sharpness becomes noticeably clearer, continuing to improve until reaching peak sharpness around f/8 with tight detail across the entire frame. Contrast is good, with usable micro-contrast. The bokeh melts backgrounds smoothly thanks to a well-designed aperture. The color tone is balanced, neutral with a slightly warm lean, capturing golden hour atmospheres beautifully. The lens can produce vignetting when wide open, useful as a technique to draw the eye toward the center of the frame, and it will fade on its own when stopped down to f/2.8-f/4. Backlight handling is average; if you don't want flare, I recommend using a lens hood when shooting against the light. Overall, it's a practical lens choice that's worth the price, suitable for those starting out with wide angle vintage lenses.
