How we gradeInspector’s condition notes
Lens in like-new condition. The Optical is perfect with no scratches. Focus and aperture are buttery smooth like a brand-new lens. Internal components are tight with no audible internal movement. The exterior body is essentially like new, but there are 2–3 small areas of paint loss or scratches along the lens body edges, focus ring, and aperture ring. (You have to look closely to spot them.)
How this lens renders
The Minolta Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 stands out among its peers for its compelling value and notable bokeh. Shooters appreciate its generally smooth and unobtrusive out-of-focus areas, with the 6-7 blade aperture providing reasonably circular shapes when stopped down. Compared to a typical fast fifty of its era, this lens offers characteristically warm colors with an amber bias that flatters skin tones, although blues lean toward cyan. It delivers excellent center sharpness even wide open, peaking between f/5.6 and f/8. However, a known limitation is its moderate to pronounced vignetting at wider apertures, though this diminishes significantly when stopped down.
