Overview

The Tokina AT-X 90mm f/2.5 Macro is Tokina's own-brand version of the legendary 'Bokina' they made for Vivitar Series 1. When the Vivitar partnership ended, Tokina continued the design under their AT-X premium line. Same legendary bokeh, same excellent performance, now with Tokina's name on it.

Verdict: The Bokina continues under Tokina's own name. If you can't find a Vivitar Series 1 90mm, this is the same legendary lens with better coatings and Tokina's premium build. One of the greatest macro/portrait lenses ever made.

Optical Character

Bokeh

So far I haven't seen anything but great bokeh from this, see all those examples.

Sharpness wide open

The lens performs great at any distance, with excellent corner-to-corner sharpness from f/4 to f/8. Sharpness is reduced a little at f/11 due to diffraction.

Flare resistance

Strong light sources will especially at the corners of the frame will reduce the contrast noticeably but there won't be any flares.

Vignetting

Vignetting at f/2.5 can be visible under critical circumstances and it is basically gone from f/4.
